Dr. O'Loughlin to Join Emergency Department Team at Story Medical

NEVADA, IOWA – Curtis O’Loughlin, MD, is set to join the medical staff of Story Medical, providing care in the Emergency Department. He is Board Certified by the American Board of Family Medicine and comes to Story Medical from Hansen Family Hospital in Iowa Falls.

“We are excited to welcome Dr. O’Loughlin to our care team in the Emergency Department,” says Nate Thompson, Story Medical CEO. “Dr. O’Loughlin has a wide range skills to address the kinds of patients we see in our Emergency Department. His skills, combined with his patient-first approach to care, will further elevate the excellent level of care our emergency team delivers.”

Dr. O’Loughlin served patients in the Emergency Department at Hansen Family Hospital, in addition to providing women’s care services. He is a native of Independence, Iowa, and earned his medical degree from the University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine and performed his residency at Ball Memorial Hospital in Muncie, Indiana.

It was during his schooling at the Carver School of Medicine that he found his passion for providing care to rural populations. As part of his training he performed a preceptorship in Iowa Falls. He loved the feel of serving a smaller town and has spent the last decade at Hansen Family Hospital.

“I don’t know if I’ve ever lived in a big town,” Dr. O’Loughlin said recently. “I’ve never really considered a big town to be home, I’m more comfortable in small towns. To live in rural America is where I want to be.”

Dr. O’Loughlin will officially join Story Medical on November 30.
