Laboratory Launches Streamline Wellness Health Monitoring Service
1/19/2012

Story County Medical Center announced today that a new laboratory service is being offered to the community. Streamline Wellness Health Monitoring provides low-cost laboratory screenings without a healthcare provider's order. All results are completely confidential and sent directly to the individual.

A variety of tests are offered including a $20 comprehensive wellness profile that tests blood sugar and cholesterol levels, kidney and liver function, and electrolyte and protein levels. Additional tests include complete blood count and anemia screening for $15 and a variety of individual tests ranging from $15-$20. Prices are per person and payment is required at the time of service.

“There are many reasons that someone may want to know their lab results,” said Barb Cohen, Story Medical’s Laboratory Director. “If prostate cancer runs in the family, a man may want to check his PSA levels regularly. Or if a woman is working hard to lower her cholesterol before her next doctor’s appointment, she may want to get it tested ahead of time to check her progress.”

Streamline Wellness Health Monitoring is provided through Story Medical's laboratory for adults over the age of 18. Tests are done Monday through Friday from 7:00 am - 5:00 pm on a walk-in basis. No appointment is necessary.

“The service is provided as a convenience to Story County residents,” said Cohen. “It’s another way that we can encourage good health awareness to the communities we serve.”
