9/16/2011

Story Medical is pleased to announce Iowa Heart Center physician Dr. Matthew McCormick will be joining the Story Medical team this September. Dr. McCormick will begin seeing patients in the outpatient clinic at Story Medical on September 28, 2011.

There are a number of reasons a patient may need to see a cardiologist, including:

  • Chest pain or discomfort and/or shortness of breath
  • Cardiac testing including exercise or nuclear stress testing and echocardiograms
  • Rhythm disturbances including palpitations or missed heartbeats
  • A cardiac event, such as a heart attack, which requires ongoing cardiology monitoring
  • High blood pressure and/or cholesterol
  • Evaluation of coronary artery disease or other diseases of the heart

“Iowa Heart has an excellent reputation for providing cardiac care and we see a number of Iowa Heart patients in our cardiac rehabilitation program,” said Nancy Willert, Story Medical Director of Wellness & Cardiac Rehabilitation. “Having Dr. McCormick available to see patients in Nevada is just another step toward providing the convenience our patients need and deserve.”

Dr. McCormick received his bachelor’s and medical degree from the University of Iowa before completing his internship, residency and cardiology fellowship at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha. Dr. McCormick is board-certified in internal medicine.

To make an appointment with Dr. McCormick at Story Medical, patients may call the Story Medical Outpatient Clinic at 515-382-7738.
