Story Medical Employees Contribute to Community
4/22/2011

Story County Medical Center’s mission is to deliver healthcare excellence by listening to, partnering with and caring for the communities of Story County – one person, one experience, one story at a time. This April, Story Medical has collaborated with various organizations to do just that!

April 4-6th Story County Medical Center set up shop at the multi-county Teen Maze held at the Boone County Fairgrounds. For three days, Story Medical Clinic healthcare providers and nurses educated nearly 1000 7th graders on the risks of using tobacco products. Students were given a tobacco-free pledge form that they could return to a Story Medical Clinic for a chance to win a $100 Best Buy gift card. Students have until April 30th to return their pledge cards. A Facebook post pledging to be tobacco-free doubles their chances at winning!

The next weekend, four Story Medical employees volunteered at the annual Nevada Bike Rodeo on April 9th. Local children had a chance to learn bike safety, traverse the obstacle course, receive a free bike helmet and have their bikes checked out before summer!

Story Medical is also sponsoring the annual Drug Drop Off day in conjunction with YSS of Eastern Story County, the Nevada Police Department, Story County Prevention Policy Board and other local healthcare organizations. On April 23rd the public is invited to “spring clean” their medicine cabinets and drop off any unwanted, expired or unused medications to the Nevada City Hall between the hours of 9am and noon.

For 60 years, Story County Medical Center, Story Medical Clinics and Story Medical Senior Care have been the trusted providers of high-quality, local healthcare services for the residents of Story County. Their modern South Campus creates a healing environment that matches the personalized care and clinical expertise of its medical staff. Visit www.StoryMedical.orgfor more information.
