Story County Medical Center announced today that the Story Medical Auxiliary has donated $4000 toward the purchase of a whirlpool tub for Story Medical Senior Care residents.
“The Auxiliary manages both the North and South Campus gift shops and does many other fundraisers throughout the year,” said Jan Krausman, Auxiliary President. “We care a great deal about the residents living in Senior Care and knew that the whirlpool tub would be a great addition to their home.”
The whirlpool bathing system is made by a Johnston, Iowa, company, Arjo. The tub uses an air jet system to gives resident the same feel of a whirlpool bath, without risk for cross-contamination between residents. It also boasts side entry, which allows for greater resident independence and a reclining function, which allows for all residents, regardless of mobility, to use the tub.
“Our staff gives approximately 50 whirlpool baths a week,” said Beth Rehbein, Administrative Director of Senior Care Services at Story Medical. “The Auxiliary’s donation toward a replacement bathing system allowed us to purchase the system that would best meet the needs of our residents. We are extremely grateful for their donation and all they do for our residents.”
