Story Medical’s cardiac rehabilitation program, wellness classes, the fitness facility and wellness offices made the move to the main level of Story County Medical Center’s North Campus on Friday. The new wellness center is located in the remodeled area that was previously the Story Medical surgical post-operation area.
“Moving the wellness center to a main floor location made sense,” said Nancy Willert, Director of Cardiac Rehabilitation & Wellness for Story Medical. “There is a lot of space at the North Campus that can be used by departments that are still located at the North location.”
Story Medical patients and wellness class participant will benefit from an effort to develop an environment of healing, including the addition of natural light and a better floor plan. Relocating to the main floor provides ease of access to those using the wellness center.
“Many people use the wellness center – from cardiac rehab patients to yoga classes to employees who are working out after their shift,” said Willert. “The new design will accommodate a variety of needs.”
In addition, Willert and her staff, Mary Coughenour, cardiac rehab nurse and Steve Van Dam, exercise physiologist, will relocate their offices to the main level next to the wellness center. The new office arrangement will allow for better patient privacy and a quieter work environment.
