David Anderson, Chairman of Story Medical’s Board of Trustees announced Friday, January 29 that Nathan D. Thompson has accepted the Board’s offer to be the new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Story County Medical Center, after serving in the interim capacity since late August.
Thompson has a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Iowa State University, and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) and a Master of Health Administration (MHA) from the University of Iowa. He spent the last four years with UnityPoint Health in positions related to provider network development and strategic growth, after time as a Business Manager for Alegent Health in Omaha, Nebraska.
He brings knowledge of business planning, growth strategies, and relationship development with provider partners to Story Medical at a time when the organization continues to seek advancement in its market position within the county.

In accepting the offer, Thompson said, “I’m very honored to be selected to lead Story Medical. In the last five months I’ve been extremely impressed with the commitment of our employees, medical staff and communities to this organization. Story Medical is a great health care provider and I am ready to work with everyone here to move the organization forward.”
Nate and his wife, Ashley, are both Iowa natives; Nate grew up in Webster City and Ashley is from Cedar Falls. Nate enjoys Iowa State athletics, spending time with nearby family, and golf at Lake Panorama.
